How to Add Geofeed to AFRINIC — Step-by-Step Guide

Adding Geofeed to AFRINIC

AFRINIC (African Network Information Centre) supports geofeed through the remarks: attribute on inetnum and inet6num objects. The process is similar to other RIRs that use the RPSL (Routing Policy Specification Language) format.

Prerequisites

  • An AFRINIC MyAFRINIC account with maintainer access
  • A geofeed CSV file hosted on a publicly accessible HTTPS URL

Create your file: Free Geofeed Generator

Step 1: Log In to MyAFRINIC

  1. Go to MyAFRINIC
  2. Log in with your credentials
  3. Navigate to your IP resource management section

Step 2: Find and Edit Your Object

  1. Search for your inetnum or inet6num object in the AFRINIC Whois
  2. Click "Update" to edit the object

Step 3: Add Geofeed Attributes

Add the following to your object:

country: ZA
remarks: Geofeed https://yourdomain.com/.well-known/geofeed.csv

Step 4: Submit and Verify

  1. Submit the modification
  2. Verify via AFRINIC Whois
  3. Allow 24-72 hours for geolocation databases to update
